The End of Summer lecture series brings notable guests from diverse fields of study in the arts to Portland. The lecture series is one of the main components of the corresponding End of Summer residency program, for emerging Japanese artists and students.

The guest lecturers are invited to the program to encourage a perspective that is international and critically engaged. Each of the lecturers and their work are also directly investigating, or informed by Japanese sensibilities or history, crucially framing the western-set program in eastern points of view.

All lecture series events are held at Yale Union and are open to the public.

Guest Lecturers have included:

Yukie Kamiya - Director, Japan Society Gallery
Yoshitaka Mori - Professor of Sociology and Cultural Studies, Tokyo University of the Arts
Yuriko Saito - Professor of Philosophy, Rhode Island School of Design
James Jack - Postdoctoral Fellow, Social Art Lab, Kyushu University
Justin Jesty - Assistant Professor of Asian Languages and Literature, University of Washington
