End Of Summer workshops with artists & curators, the Japan Pavilion, & the National Center of Art Research.

August 24–28, 2026

Established in 2016 by Matt Jay (1987–2022), End Of Summer is a unique cross-cultural artist residency based in Portland, Oregon focused on art, nature and community. Its mission is to build a dialogue between the U.S. and Japan through contemporary art. Each year, six emerging Japanese artists are selected to participate in a highly personal program with a community-oriented ethos and a creative exploration which nurtures international connectivity with Portland.

In memory of founder Matt Jay, End Of Summer enters a new chapter. Please support our efforts for the next generation of artists of the Pacific Northwest and Japan.
